In a significant operation, Chennai Airport Customs apprehended an individual after seizing 1201 grams of narcotic substances, specifically cocaine, with an estimated value of Rs. 12 crores, as reported by the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs on Friday.
According to the official statement from the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs, the Chennai Air Customs (AIU) intercepted a male passenger with a Nigerian Passport who had arrived from Addis Ababa on December 12, 2023. Subsequent examination of the individual revealed the presence of contraband in the form of hyperdense cylindrical bundles, totaling 71, concealed within his body.
The Customs authorities confirmed the seizure of 1201 grams of cocaine, valued at Rs. 12 crores, under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. The passenger in possession of the illicit substances has been arrested in connection with the incident, as stated by the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs.
