For the pre-matric scholarship program for the year 2023-24, the central share is Rs 40 crore and the state’s share is Rs 65 crore, in total Rs 105 crore grants are fixed in the budget. Shivraj Thangadagi, Minister of Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture Department said that steps are being taken to pay scholarships to eligible students as per the guidelines.
The Minister was responding to a question from MLA HD Thammaiah that the scholarship is being paid to eligible 9th and 10th class students according to the available grants for the year 2023-24.
Grants are being released as per requirement for building maintenance of hostels under the Backward Classes Welfare Department. The Minister said that the proposals for releasing grants for different works will be reviewed and action will be taken to release funds based on the availability of grants.
