MLA NH Konareddy and Srinivasa Mane raised the matter at zero hour in the assembly.  The letter given by Konareddy to the Minister of Large Industries of the State MB Patil said that the naming of airports is under the purview of the central government. However, as per the demand of the MLAs, both the Houses said that a resolution to name the Hubli Airport as Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna and Belagavi Airport as Veerarani Kittoor Chanmamma would be passed and recommended to the Centre. MLAs Aravinda Bellada and Basanagowda Patila Yatnal spoke on the occasion and demanded that the government take immediate action in this matter with the consent of all the members of both houses.
