Two Separate Murder Cases, Three Accused Arrested

The Arakalagud Police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering an elderly woman and robbing her of her gold ornaments. The accused has been identified as Ravikumar (42). Ravikumar, a native of Karehalli village in Arakalagud taluk, had murdered the elderly woman and robbed her of her gold ornaments.

The accused, Ravikumar, had gone to Sarojamma’s house at Shettarkoppalu village in Arakalagud taluk 10 days ago and told her that he had come for cow trade. Sarojamma, a cattle owner, and her daughter-in-law Rani had sent the cow saying they would not sell it. On November 19, he returned to the same village and came to know that there was no one in the house and asked Sarojamma to sell the cow.

The accused then hit the elderly woman on the head with a stick. Later, when he came to know about the death of the elderly woman, he snatched a pair of earrings, two earrings and a two-penny black bead mangalya chain from her body and fled. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s son Narayan, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. A special team led by Arakalagud Circle CPI SM Raghupathi was formed in connection with the case. The Police managed to arrest the accused on Saturday. Gold ornaments weighing 2 grams and a two-wheeler worth Rs 2,65 were seized from the accused and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

District Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sujeetha said, we had registered a complaint lodged by Sarojamma’s son at Arakalagud police station in connection with the murder. During the investigation, it was found that a man named Ravikumar had murdered the elderly woman for gold. We have arrested the accused in this connection.
