Three out of 6 irrigation projects of Kalaburgi, Yadagir and Bidar districts of Kalyana Karnataka part under Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam, 11 projects under Karnataka Irrigation Corporation have been completed, said Minister Ramalingareddy on behalf of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in the Legislative Council on Thursday.
During the question and answer session in Vidhan Parishad, Talwara Sabanna said that about Medium and large irrigation projects in Kalaburgi, Bidar and Yadagiri area of Kalyana Karnataka and the expenses incurred for these projects in the last 5 years, including the poor condition of canals and the fraud of officials and contractors.
Gazette should be prepared by the central government for two projects. At this time, Andhra and Telangana states have approached the court not to prepare the gazette, so the work has not progressed. Budihala-Virapur Lift Irrigation Project expansion work is in progress, he said.
1,306 crores has been spent in the last 5 years for the projects of Krishna Jalbhagya Nigam in Kalaburgi, Bidar and Yadagiri area of Kalyana Karnataka. 489 crores have been spent on 11 projects of Karnataka Irrigation Corporation in the last 5 years.
All necessary steps have been taken to drain the water, including soil, necessary repairs. All these tenders are done transparently through e-procurement. Quality assurance has also been given priority and the works are not being given directly to any contractor, he said.
