On Tuesday in Peshawar, Pakistan, an explosion resulted in injuries to at least four individuals, including three children, as reported by the country’s Geo News, citing information from police and hospital officials. The blast occurred on Warsak Road and was attributed to explosives planted on the road that subsequently detonated. The Lady Reading Hospital received the injured, with two children reported to be in critical condition, aged between 7 and 10 years, according to the hospital’s spokesperson.

Following the incident at around 9 am local time, police and Rescue 1122 teams were dispatched to the Babu Garhi area of Peshawar. Superintendent Police Arshad Khan informed Geo News that the explosives, weighing 4 kilograms, were concealed in a roadside cement block. A search operation in the surrounding areas has been initiated, with considerations of potential extortion elements.

Notably, the blast shattered the glass of two vehicles and nearby buildings, as confirmed by rescue officials. Mayor Metropolitan Zubair Ali characterized the explosion near educational institutions as unfortunate, denoting it as an attempt to disrupt peace and order.

In November, an earlier blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan resulted in five fatalities and over 20 injuries, targeting the police, according to Pakistan-based Dawn. Data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed a 34% increase in anti-state violence in November. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the most affected province, with 51 documented attacks causing 54 deaths and 81 injuries, while Balochistan reported nine attacks resulting in 18 casualties, including 15 security forces personnel and three civilians.
