Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister Priyank Kharge said that Arivu Kendra will be set up in rural areas, where online and offline materials for all types of competitive examinations will be made available. Also Panchamitra, a dedicated call centre to resolve various issues related to rural areas will be set up.
The Chief Minister will launch both facilities next month, he said at the district convention of Panchayat Raj representatives.
Kharge said that a Water Audit Committee has been constituted with the objective to chalk out measures to rejuvenate the water bodies in the state and to ensure judicious use of water. The committee, which comprises representatives from Isro, departments like major and minor irrigation and watershed will use the big data and map all water bodies owned by the government and private parties and chalk out measures for its judicious use. He said the committee will also study what led to a decrease in the groundwater table.
Further, from next year onwards, the minister said the state government will go for counselling of PDO transfers and responsibility will be fixed for them. Biometric attendance will be introduced for them and they will get a salary only for the number of days they have worked.
Meanwhile, Kharge slammed the Centre for reducing the grants to the state under MGNREGA. He said the grant has been reduced to Rs 60,000 crore and man days to 13,000 crore. We have already exhausted 11,000 crore man days and the remaining 2,000 crore man days will be finished in next two months. Over Rs 720 crore wages under scheme is pending, he said.
