Several Duped Of Crores Of Rupees In Alleged Overseas Job Fraud

 An overseas recruitment agency functioning at Kankanady in the city is accused of cheating several people to the tune of crore of rupees on the pretext of providing employment in foreign countries.

People who were conned by the agency vented their anger at a press conference.

Anita Noronha, a native of Siddapura of Uttara Kannada district,   said, Allwyn D’Mello of The Legend IELTS, a company situated at Kankanady took Rs 75,000 from me promising me of a job in an office in Dubai. However, so far, he has not provided me job and not returning my money also.

Brandon Pinto, one more person reportedly conned by the company said, I approached Allwyn D’Mello at his office in January 2022 for a visa to Dubai. He only interviewed me at took Rs 1.3 lakh. He promised of getting job in aerospace and aviation sector in Dubai. He also sent a letter saying that it is signed by officials of Dubai on WhatsApp.  He has neither provided employment nor returned my money so far. In order to prevent any suspicion of fraud, he arranged training for 30 job aspirants in his office.

Jaison D’Souza said, Allwyn took Rs 8.5 lakh from me promising jobs for me and my wife clerical jobs in Netherland. When we asked for our money to be returned, he threatened to file police complaint against us.

Victims said that around 60 people are in their contact who are cheated by Allwyn. The total amount of fraud is around Rs 15-20 crore.

Yogish Shetty Jeppu, president of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike, said, a complaint is filed with the City Police Commissioner and he has ordered an investigation.   If any more victims are there, they should contact police soon.
