Kittur Rani Channamma is my ideal, my god, my life’s inspiration. State Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar said that Chennamma is another name for self-respect.
She was speaking at a programme organised by Veerashaiva Lingayat Panchamasali Samaj in Samvasagi village of Hanagal taluk of the district on Sunday to unveil Veera Rani Kittur Channamma statue.
Kittur Rani Chennamma has got a permanent place in this society because of her struggles. You are doing the work of conveying the ideals of such great achievers to the next generation by unveiling the statue of such great achievers, I thank you all for this, she said.
Those who work for the society get a permanent place in our hearts as mahatmas. Lakshmi Hebbalkar said that those who work for selfishness will soon be forgotten, she said.
Our government has implemented five guarantee schemes to uplift women’s self-esteem and empower women. Grilahakshmi, Shakti and other projects have empowered women. The minister said that from now on we are trying to implement many projects from the department as well.
