BBMP Inspects Pubs, Bars, And Restaurants; Closes Down Unsafe Establishments

Following the recent fire incident at Mud Pipe Cafe in Koramangala, BBMP officials have taken proactive measures to inspect and assess the safety of pubs, bars, and restaurants in the city. Over the course of five days, these inspections have resulted in hundreds of notices being issued to establishments under the jurisdiction of BBMP, and more than 36 businesses have been ordered to close due to safety concerns. The inspections, led by health officers, have taken place across eight zones of the Burhat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation. Notices were issued to businesses found to have deficiencies, and those not complying with licensing regulations were immediately closed. Bengaluru has a total of 1,118 licensed establishments under the corporation, with 748 of them inspected during these recent checks. Notably, 353 establishments received notices, and 36 have been temporarily closed to address safety issues. The BBMP’s vigilant actions aim to ensure the safety of patrons and prevent potential fire hazards, demonstrating their commitment to public well-being.
