Smart City Project To Be Inspected Every Fortnight

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the progress assessment of Smart City project related works will be held every 15 days. Meeting of the departments which are posing hurdles in work will be held. On October 17, first such meeting is being held, said the MP.

Kateel inspected various works related to Smart City project earlier. He instructed the contractors and officials to complete the same within the specified time period.

The inspection of concrete road work at Pumpwell, connecting road work and railway underground bridge at Mahakalipadpu, Riverfront project at Mulihitlu, international swimming pool at Emmekere and surgical block at Wenlock hospital were done by the MP.

Kateel said, Rs 1,000 crore worth projects are approved from the union government for developing Mangaluru into the Smart City project. Out of these, works amounting to Rs 745 crore are completed. Rs 831 crore direct grant is also given. At present, 55 projects are completed and 33 are underway. Four works will be done under the PPP model.

The railway under bridge work of Mahakalipadpu will be completed during March 2024. The concrete connecting road work is in progress. Instructions are given to complete the same by January 2024. This will be used as bypass road to Mangaluru market, he said.
