Bengaluru

As the festive season approaches and consecutive holidays loom, there is a renewed demand for an additional train to connect the bustling capital city of Bangalore to coastal Karnataka. A similar model has already been implemented with a special train running from Mumbai to Mangalore in an effort to alleviate passenger congestion during the Dussehra and Diwali holidays. People are now calling for a special train service between Bangalore and Mangalore to address the surge in travel. Much like the famous Mysore Dussehra, Mangalore also celebrates Dussehra with great fervor, attracting thousands of visitors who travel between Bangalore and Mangalore to partake in the festivities. To accommodate this increased demand, passengers are urging the South Western Railway to operate a special train. Existing train services between Bangalore and Mangalore are already running at full capacity, leaving waitlisted passengers with uncertain prospects of securing tickets. Meanwhile, bus and flight tickets are also in high demand, resulting in soaring prices. For instance, private bus ticket prices between Bengaluru and Mangalore skyrocketed from around Rs 650-900 on October 16 to Rs 1,600-2,000 by October 20. Despite these exorbitant prices, passengers have faced ticket unavailability due to the overwhelming demand. In response to this situation, people are urging authorities to arrange for a special train between Bangalore and Mangalore to provide a convenient and cost-effective mode of travel for the festive season, granting passengers an alternative to high-priced bus tickets and the uncertainty of securing train seats.
