The PDO (Panchayat Development Officer) in Benakanala village panchayat of the taluk is facing allegations of engaging in illegal activities related to the appointment of the Niruganti post. It has been brought to light that the PDO tampered with files, created fake documents, and violated government regulations. In 2017, the Panchayat Raj Department issued an order that prohibited new appointments except for those made before December 31st in rural areas. However, despite this order, the PDO allowed someone to assume the position of Niruganti six months prior to the order’s date. The PDO submitted a proposal for the appointment of the Niruganti post to the T.Pang along with fake Gram Panchayat documents, indicating the illegal actions taken. It has been reported that Panchayat records and Tharavu books were altered by the PDO in an illegal manner. Villagers have filed complaints with T.P.M. and G.P.M. officials since 2021 to investigate and take action. However, no action has been taken so far, leading to skepticism among the villagers.
