Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the 13th edition of Alva’s Pragati 2023, the placement drive organised by the Alva’s Education Foundation, at Vidyagiri Campus in Moodbidri. The MP said that helping an individual to get employment is equal to helping the entire family.
According to a survey, of the 10 lakh engineering graduates, 5 lakh are successful in getting employment, while the remaining 5 lakh fail to find a suitable job. From 2014 to 2023, the Centre has been providing employment to the people. To increase the employability, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced various skill development programmes. The Prime Minister also has introduced the concept of holding job melas to solve the unemployment issue, he said. Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian insisted on soft skills for students, along with educational qualifications. “Students should learn to present themselves before the interviewer,” he added. Alva’s Education Foundation chairman M Mohan Alva said that instead of searching for employment abroad, one should stay back in the country to achieve success. MLA Harish Poonja, MLC SL Bhoje Gowda and Bharat Scouts and Guides state chief commissioner P G R Sindhia were present.
The placement drive received responses from 10,480 aspirants, including 9,018 online registrations and 1,432 spot registrations. The first day witnessed participation of 7,986 job aspirants to attend interviews being conducted by 198 participating companies, stated a release.
