Protests are continuing in the district against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The farmers have been continuously venting their anger against the state government and Tamil Nadu and now a Cauvery activist has come up with a novel protest.

Cauvery water has been flowing to Tamil Nadu for more than a month now. Shivakumar Aradhya, a farmer, is protesting against this in Upparakanahalli village. They have dug a pit in the field and covered the entire body with mud so that only the head can be seen.

It is depicting burying farmers alive by releasing water to Tamil Nadu. We have been raising anti-inflammatory slogans for so long. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said they would raise voice in their favour. Instead of defying Shivakumar and Agriculture Minister Chaluvarayaswamy, the farmers shouted slogans and expressed their anger.

The release of water to Tamil Nadu will not be allowed at any cost. The reservoir is filling up with the grace of rain God. Instead of burying the farmers, the Government should stop releasing any more water, the farmer said.

The protest   is increasing day by day and the style of protest is different. On the one hand, they protested with body covered in mud and on the other hand, they protested against the Government with liquor bottles and shorts. The Ministers of the government are worried about shorts, the farmers of the state are worried about water, the villages do not want cupboards and bars, the irrigation schemes should be implemented, he said. District Raitha Hitarakshana Samithi activists also continued their dharna where two persons dressed as Yama and Chitragupta participated in the protest.
