Shivamogga Incident: Result Of The Appeasement Politics: Basavaraj Bommai

Bengaluru

The appeasement of a particular community by the state government prompted untoward incidents in Shivamogga City. Instead of putting the accused persons behind bars, the minister was giving the clean chit to them, said former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.

He told reporters here on Wednesday that the minister himself was misguiding by accusing the BJP of orchestrating trouble. If those who are supposed to talk action talk in this tone on whom the government must repose faith? Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar termed this incident as small. The government’s appeasement policy has increased anti-social elements. It was also the root cause for the increase in such elements to raise their ugly heads in border districts.

Bommai said no one knew the government was up to following pressure from the ministers and MLAs to release all those who have been arrested in such cases. Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar wrote a letter seeking the withdrawal of the cases booked against all those PFI activists who were behind the Hubballi incident. Understanding the mistake, now the Home Minister has blamed the media for distorting his statement of terming the Shivamogga incident as ‘small’.  The removal of the banners put by the Hindu activists in Udupi clearly shows the appeasement policy of the Congress Government in the State.
