Hangzhou
India’s Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam secured the bronze medal in the men’s canoe double 1000m event at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou. The Indian pair displayed remarkable teamwork, clocking a time of 3 minutes and 53.329 seconds in the final, earning them a place on the podium. This achievement marks India’s second-ever canoe medal at the Asian Games. The first medal was won by Johnny Rommel and Siji Kumar Sadanandan, who secured a bronze in the same race during the 1994 Asian Games held in Hiroshima. In addition to this success, India also has teams competing in the women’s kayak four 500m and canoe double 200m events, with hopes of adding more medals to their tally in these disciplines.
