Hangzhou The Indian Women’s Hockey Team secured their place in the semifinals of the 19th Asian Games with a resounding 13-0 victory over Hong Kong China in their final Pool A match. India’s goal scorers included Vandana Katariya (2′, 16′, 48′), Deepika (4′, 54′, 58′), Monika (7′), Deep Grace Ekka (11′, 42), Sangita Kumari (27′, 55′), Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke (34′), and Navneet Kaur (58′). From the outset, India launched a relentless offensive against Hong Kong China, establishing a commanding 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Vandana Katariya opened the scoring with a superb field goal (2′), followed by goals from Deepika (4′) and Monika (7′). Vice-captain Deep Grace Ekka (11′) then successfully converted a penalty corner to extend India’s lead. The second quarter mirrored the first, with India maintaining control and increasing their lead. Vandana Katariya (16′) showcased her prowess with another impressive field goal, while Sangita Kumari (27′) added to India’s advantage. At halftime, India held a commanding 6-0 lead. In the third quarter, India continued to dominate, with Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke (34′) and Deep Grace Ekka (42′) scoring from penalty corners to further solidify their lead. India entered the final quarter with an 8-0 advantage. India’s hunger for goals persisted in the fourth quarter as they scored five more times. Vandana Katariya (48′), Deepika (54′, 58′), Sangita Kumari (55′), and Navneet Kaur (58′) all found the back of the net to secure a resounding 13-0 victory. With this win, India finished the Pool stage unbeaten and will now advance to the semifinals on October 5.
