Lovlina Borgohain Advances To Women’s 75kg Boxing Final At Asian Games, Secures 2024 Paris Olympic Quota

Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain secured a place in the final of the women’s 75kg boxing event at the 19th Asian Games with a commanding 5:0 unanimous win over Maneekon Baison of Thailand. Furthermore, Lovlina’s advancement to the final ensured her a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics in her weight category. In another weight category, Preeti secured a 2024 Olympic quota by reaching the semifinals in the 54kg weight category. Although Preeti clinched a bronze medal, she faced a defeat against China’s Yuan Chang in the semifinal, with a unanimous 5:0 verdict. Preeti’s bronze medal adds to India’s medal tally, solidifying its position in fourth place on the medal standings. India has now accumulated a total of 62 medals, including 13 gold, 24 silver, and 25 bronze medals at the 19th Asian Games.
