Chaitra Kundapur, the central figure in a cheating case involving the promise of a BJP MLA ticket, was hospitalized on Friday morning after reportedly feigning illness during police interrogation. Victoria Hospital, where she was admitted, issued a statement confirming her stable condition. Chaitra Kundapur experienced seizures earlier but was not under any medication. Her vital signs, including ABG, RBS, and ECG, are normal. A CT scan was performed, yielding normal results. Currently, her clinical condition remains stable, stated Victoria Hospital. The police have not yet transferred her to the CCB office for further questioning. Complainant Govind Babu Puraji, who accused Chaitra and her associates of extorting money by promising him a BJP MLA ticket, submitted a pen drive containing evidence to the CCB police. This pen drive is said to contain recorded phone conversations between Puraji and the accused, recorded after he became suspicious of their intentions. CCB police are meticulously examining the submitted evidence. Another accused in the case, Channa Naik, who was arrested on Thursday evening, has been remanded in CCB custody until September 23, as per the court’s order. Thus far, the police have arrested six individuals connected to the case. However, Accused A3, Seer Abhinava Halashree of Halaswamy Mutt, has remained at large since Chaitra’s initial arrest. Chaitra is reportedly uncooperative with CCB questioning. Her hospitalization occurred when she allegedly lost consciousness during the transition from a women’s rehabilitation center to the CCB office for interrogation. Her statement regarding the case has yet to be recorded by the police.
