Police To Seek Mamman Khan’s Remand In Connection To Nuh Violence

Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Bijarnia announced that the police will seek the remand of arrested Congress MLA Mamman Khan in connection with the July 31 violence that erupted in the Haryana district. Khan has been accused of instigating the violence, which resulted in six deaths. SP Bijarnia stated that the police have substantial evidence against Khan to proceed with further legal action in the case. Khan was arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Haryana Police after his bail application before the Punjab and Haryana High Court was rejected. In the context of the ongoing investigation, the police have registered 60 FIRs and arrested 330 people. SP Bijarnia also mentioned that Khan’s involvement in the Badkali Chowk violence in Nuh on July 31 was established, and he had been in contact with several individuals over the phone. Additionally, certain YouTube channels are under scrutiny for spreading misinformation and instigating the riots in Nuh.

The Haryana government informed the high court that, in FIR No.149 dated August 1, 2023, registered under Sections 148, 149, 153-A, 379-A, 436, 506 of IPC, 1860 at Police Station Nagina, District Nuh, Haryana, there are 52 accused persons out of which 42 persons have been arrested. The July 31 violence in Nuh had resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, prompting a thorough investigation by the authorities. The police have been actively pursuing individuals involved in the violence, with a total of 330 arrests made in connection to the case.
