New Delhi

Eco-friendly preparations are underway in the national capital ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled to commence this Saturday. This initiative follows the directive of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, V.K. Saxena, aimed at adorning the city’s roads with environmentally friendly decorations, particularly by embellishing trees with marigold flowers. According to a government statement, the plan is to welcome the Heads of Government and Heads of State attending the G20 Summit by embellishing the roadside trees with marigold flowers. The designated routes for this decoration stretch from the Air Force Station in Palam to Sardar Patel Marg, leading to Rajghat, which are all significant locations that the summit attendees will visit during their stay in Delhi. The statement goes on to detail the specific efforts made by various government bodies. The Delhi Cantonment Board is actively garlanding around 400 trees along Thimmaiya Road and Parade Road in the Palam technical area with vibrant two-colored marigold flowers. Furthermore, the Public Works Department has taken charge of adorning approximately 200 trees and 100 poles in the vicinity of Kisan Ghat, which is situated near Raj Ghat. The New Delhi Municipal Council is contributing by garlanding approximately 1,200 trees along Sardar Patel Road and near crucial intersections, while the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is focusing on enhancing around 300 trees. This eco-conscious approach to decorating the city not only beautifies the surroundings but also aligns with the principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility. It showcases the city’s commitment to welcoming international leaders in an environmentally friendly and visually appealing manner during the G20 Summit.
