A mother, distraught over her three children’s alcohol addiction and their frequent quarrels at home, took her own life. The police have arrested all three children for abetting their mother’s suicide. The deceased, Sumitra (44), resided in Korantabettu Colony of Lingappaiah Kadu in K S Rao Nagar near Mulky. Her children, Manjunatha (25), Phalada alias Prabhu (19), and Sanjeeva (22), were arrested by the police. According to police sources, the accused got into a fight around 11:30 pm on Thursday over a trivial matter. Sumitra, who was deeply saddened by her sons’ frequent quarrels, hanged herself with a saree from the roof beam of the house. This tragic incident highlights the challenges faced by families dealing with addiction and conflict, underscoring the need for support and intervention in such cases.
