A woman was killed on the spot when the tractor in which devotees were on their way to have darshan of Goddess Mayakka at Chinchali village in Rayabaga taluk on the occasion of Shravana month overturned on Thursday. The tractor overturned on Halyal barrage in Athani taluk of the district. The deceased has been identified as Akshata Kanamadi (20) of Kakamari village in Athani taluk. More than10 people suffered minor injuries. It is learnt that one person was seriously injured.The incident took place when the devotees were on their way to Mayakka Devi from Kakamari village. More than 20 devotees were travelling in a tractor with a double trolley. The tractor could have fallen into the river if it had gone two feet ahead. The injured have been admitted to Athani taluk hospital. Athani police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at Athani Police station.
