The body of Gurmeet Singh, an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the Public Works Department (PWD), who had gone missing last week, was discovered on Tuesday in the Jhelum River in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the police, Gurmeet Singh’s body was found at a barrage in the Lower Jhelum Hydel Project (LJHP) in Gantmulla, Baramulla district. The engineer had been missing for four days before his body was located. The Baramulla police had established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police to investigate the case following Gurmeet Singh’s disappearance. A comprehensive operation involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), canine squad, and drone surveillance was launched to gather potential clues, with the authorities also seeking assistance from the public.
