The Bihar Education Department has taken significant action against teachers who were found negligent or absent in schools, with 55 teachers suspended within a span of two months. Additionally, the salaries of around 6,000 teachers have been reduced due to various teaching violations. Following the appointment of K.K. Pathak as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department in June, inspections of schools were initiated from July 1. Pathak directed District Magistrates and district education officers to conduct regular inspections of schools, taking action against teachers who violated their duties. Teachers were found to be absent from school without prior permission and some even arrived late for their classes. The highest number of suspensions occurred in Sitamarhi district, totaling 26, while other suspensions were reported across 12 different districts. It is noteworthy that 24 districts did not report any suspensions at all. Furthermore, the Education Department has taken the step of reducing the salaries of teachers in cases where violations were identified. For instance, the salaries of 2 teachers in Bhagalpur, 3 in Arwal, 9 in Khagaria, and 9 in Rohtas were reduced. In other districts, the range of affected teachers varied from 10 to 300, making it clear that the Bihar Education Department is taking a strong stance against negligence and non-compliance in the teaching profession.
