A bomb threat email received by the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGI) in Hyderabad has been confirmed to be a hoax, according to local police. The email, sent to the airport’s customer care on Monday at around 11:50 a.m., claimed that a bomb had been planted within the airport premises and was set to explode at 7 p.m. The airport’s security personnel immediately responded to the threat, with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and local police collaborating to conduct anti-sabotage checks. Both bomb squads and dog squads were deployed in an effort to ensure the safety of the airport’s premises. After a thorough search, no traces of explosives were found. An official from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police station stated that their team swiftly responded to the threat, conducted a comprehensive search of the area, and found no evidence of any suspicious objects. Following a complaint lodged by the airport authorities, the RGIA police initiated an investigation under section 385 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are now working to identify and apprehend the sender of the false bomb threat email.
