Namma Metro Feeder Bus; 10 BMTC Traffic On New Route

Must read

Bengaluru relies heavily on the seamless coordination between BMTC buses and metro trains, which form the backbone of the city’s public transportation system. Recognizing the significance of this interconnected network, BMTC plays a pivotal role by operating metro feeder buses, benefiting commuters and generating revenue for the organization. BMTC’s fleet includes 103 specialized buses designed as metro feeders, catering to the needs of metro commuters. These buses conduct approximately 2000 trips daily, effectively connecting two dozen metro stations across the city. Acknowledging the importance of this service, BMTC is poised to expand its operations, aiming to enhance convenience and accessibility for metro passengers. The metro network in Bangalore is on an upward trajectory, with various lines, including the yellow line, set to be operational by year’s end. This expansion is anticipated to augment the number of metro passengers, necessitating a corresponding augmentation in the metro feeder bus service. BMTC is already in the process of launching metro feeder buses on 10 new routes, strategically targeting metro commuters. Additionally, more buses will be introduced on existing routes to accommodate the growing demand from metro travelers. Despite the popularity of the metro feeder bus service, some concerns have been raised by passengers. Consistency in punctuality remains an area for improvement, and there have been reports of inadequate buses for stations like Jalahalli, Kengeri, Yelachenahalli, etc. To address this, BMTC aims to enhance awareness and signage to ensure commuters have accurate information about the availability of metro feeder buses. Over the past 12 years, the Bengaluru metro system has become an integral part of the city’s transportation landscape.
