Gruha Lakshmi, one of the popular guarantees of the Congress government, will be launched this month and the district has the highest registrations for the scheme. The district has received applications from 3.48 lakh beneficiaries out of the 3.94 lakh ration card holders, which amounts to 88.3 percent. The Zilla Panchayat has appointed Nodal Officers to register beneficiaries under the scheme in the district.
Chamarajnagar, which has taken 2.4 lakh beneficiaries out of a total of 2.7 lakhs, stands second followed by Hassan district where 4.1 lakh beneficiaries out of 4.7 lakh are registered.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru Urban and Rural and Kodagu districts have received poor response from beneficiaries. Bengaluru Rural has recorded only 69.6 percent, Kodagu 79.3 percent and Dakshina Kannada district has achieved only 79.5 percent registration of beneficiaries. Due to server issues and other reasons, the registration process has not yet taken off in these districts.
According to sources, there are at least 1.3 crore women eligible to register under the scheme in the state and more than 1.1 crore beneficiaries have already registered.
We have been registering beneficiaries in 223 Bapuji Service Centres, 267 Grama One centres, and 32 centres in urban areas. We are requesting other eligible beneficiaries to register soon, said an officer in the Department of Women and Child Development.
We have appointed Nodal Officers to encourage and advise people to register free of cost under Gruha Lakshmi scheme across the district. We have strictly instructed Anganwadi workers and other officials concerned to speed up the registration process from July 20. We have solved technical issues immediately and ordered not to receive money for registration. For all these reasons, the district stands in first in the state, said Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Akshy Sridhar.
