The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is nearing a significant milestone with its second-largest project, the construction of Shivaram Karanta Barangay. In an effort to make plots available to the public, the BDA has intensified its development efforts and aims to allot these plots within the next two months. This substantial undertaking was set in motion over a decade and a half ago, with the issuance of the final notification for the acquisition of 3,546 acres in 2008. Of this land, a significant portion—2,800 acres—has been entrusted to the Engineer Department for development work. An impressive 40% of the settlement development work has already been accomplished, showcasing the project’s robust progress. The acquisition process involved collaboration with 1,669 farmers, resulting in the acquisition of land for the barangay’s construction. Out of these, 353 individuals have received Entitlement Certificates (EC). Additionally, 500 farmers have expressed their intent for settlement, although the requisite documents are pending. The BDA officials have indicated that the compensation process for these individuals will be initiated once the necessary documents are obtained and verified. The developed plots will serve as compensation for the farmers, bolstering their engagement with the project. Upon completing this compensation process, the BDA envisions the subsequent sale of plots to the general public through a priority-based application system. The revenue generated from this endeavor will not only enhance the financial position of the BDA but will also contribute to the development of the village. This strategic decision to allocate plots to both farmers and consumers marks a pivotal step forward in the project’s journey. As the project’s momentum continues to build, the BDA remains dedicated to fostering sustainable development and improving the lives of individuals within the region.
