The Varamahalakshmi festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm as a multitude of women gathered at major temples throughout the city on Friday. At temples falling under the jurisdiction of the Hindu Religious Institutions And Charitable Endowments Department, female devotees received traditional offerings of vermillion-turmeric and bangles. Following the directives of the Muzrai minister and in line with the notification from the Endowment commissioner, these offerings were extended to all women devotees. Lakshmi from the Banashankari temple trust mentioned that they were expecting around 5,000 women devotees and had made special arrangements for decorating the deity in honor of the occasion. The festivities extended to KR Market in the city, where festival shoppers were seen purchasing flowers, fruits, and other essentials from early morning. However, the increased demand led to traffic congestion on the roads. Notably, the prices of fruits and flowers had experienced a significant surge due to the festival celebrations. The vibrant atmosphere reflected the fervor with which the Varamahalakshmi festival was being celebrated across the city.
