Former Minister and Senior Congress leader B Ramanath Rai criticised BJP MLAs in Dakshina Kannada, who recently held a protest alleging protocol violations in government programmes in the district.
Rai told media persons that earlier BJP MLAs were controlling government officials, when their party was in power, but now they are trying to threaten officials through the protest in the name of protocol violations, Rai said.
He alleged that the BJP is not able to move on without power in Karnataka. People’s representatives were misusing powers using Government officials, and thereby getting land regularised under the Akrama Sakrama scheme illegally. Following complaints, the Deputy Commissioner of the district has constituted a committee to look into the illegal sanctioning of land in 71 cases, Rai said.
On the BJP MLAs’ complaints of protocol violations in government programmes, Rai said that the Congress did not exert any pressure on the issue. He also alleged that the BJP violated protocol during the inauguration of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Bantwal. The one who distributed the benefits to beneficiaries under the scheme, was neither an MLA, nor a voter of the constituency, he said
