FC Barcelona’s Uruguayan international defender, Ronald Araujo, is facing a setback as he will be sidelined for approximately one month due to a hamstring injury. The club confirmed the injury through their official website, specifying that Araujo injured the femoral biceps in the hamstring of his left leg, which will render him unavailable for selection until he recovers. While the club did not provide an exact return date, given the nature of the injury and Araujo’s history of muscle problems, it is expected that he will be out of action for at least a month. This means he will miss upcoming matches, including a game against Cadiz, a challenging away match against Villarreal, and a home game against Osasuna. Barcelona is hopeful that Araujo will recover in time for a home match against Real Betis on September 17, as well as the start of the group stage in the Champions League the following week. With Araujo’s absence, the defensive lineup for Barcelona’s first-team squad is limited to Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, and Alejandro Balde. Marcos Alonso and Inigo Martinez are not currently registered due to Financial Fair Play reasons. Despite Martinez’s foot injury over the summer, he was seen attending part of the recent first-team training session.
