Karan Johar returned to the director’s chair after a gap of 7 years with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and the film showed how a well-made romantic drama can still pull in the crowds in a world where action and larger than life films are ruling the roost. The film which starred names like Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra , Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan is in its third week and has already crossed over Rs 140 crore nett in India.
The film is a sensation in the international market and despite facing stiff competition from multiple films like OMG 2, Gadar 2, Jailer etc, it has remained rocksteady.
RARKPK minted about USD 3 million just this week, taking its grand total to more than 15.40 million USD in three weeks. With this the gross collection of the film has reached Rs 300 crore.
In the overseas market, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has become the highest grosser for Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, surpassing all their previous films. In 2023, Karan Johar’s directorial venture is only behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan as the second best Bollywood grosser Hindi film in the international market.
