District in-charge Minister and Minster for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao unveiled the joint replacement robotic unit of Yenepoya speciality hospital on Tuesday.
Yenepoya speciality hospital is taking the total knee replacement surgery to the next level from navigation to robotic knee replacement. It is the first-of-its-kind outside Bengaluru city in Karnataka.
Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, I congratulate Yenepoya speciality hospital for introducing new facilities. People can make the best use of this facility. It is a new addition to the hospital and many more such additions will happen where people can get benefitted. It is useful to doctors to perform their surgery more effectively. Now as people live longer, naturally the pressure is on organs which fail with age. More concern is that on the younger generation having orthopaedic problems. Mangaluru is in the forefront in the medical sector as people come here of the quality and cost effectiveness.
Chairman Dr Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi said, the private and government health facilities should collaborate to provide better healthcare. Our district is in the forefront in education and health as we serve a large geography across the country. We are honoured to have the district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao to launch the joint replacement robotic unit. He is son of Gundu Rao with whom I was closely associated during his tenure. I wish the best to Dinesh Gundu Rao for his portfolio.
HOD department of orthopaedics Dr Deepak Rai said, this is first robotic unit in Mangaluru which is fully automated with AI technology. It takes the help of artificial technology backed by data. It is a CT based technology.
