Vijayalakshmi had been grappling with mental depression since the loss of her husband, Ganesh, in a road accident two years ago, as revealed by the police. Trapped in the throes of her emotional turmoil, she reportedly tied her son to her waist before plunging into a nearby lake. The Bannerghatta Police Station has registered a case pertaining to this tragic incident.
