A wave of robberies has struck the Mysore-Bangalore Expressway once again, raising concerns about the safety of travelers on this route. In unsettling incidents that unfolded on night, miscreants targeted two couples, making off with their precious gold chains, leaving a trail of fear and distress in their wake. The initial incident unfolded when Sivaprasad and his wife Suma, hailing from the Udupi district, decided to take a break and parked their vehicle near the Bharat Bench Company at the Naguvanahalli gate in Srirangapatna taluk. The tranquility of their momentary pause was shattered by the sudden appearance of two helmet-clad individuals on bikes. Threatening the couple with weapons, the miscreants swiftly snatched away 30 grams of their gold chain before escaping into the night. In an unsettling parallel, Dr. Rakshit Reddy and his wife Manasa, residents of Malur in the Kolar district, experienced a similar traumatic ordeal. While journeying along the expressway, fate dealt them a blow as their car suffered a punctured tire near Gouripur in Srirangapatna taluk. Seizing this opportunity, the assailants confronted the couple as they attempted to change the tire. Armed with a knife, the criminals made off with a 40 gram gold chain, leaving the couple shaken and traumatized. Sunday saw the arrival of Mandya SP N. Yatish at both crime scenes, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Srirangapatna police promptly initiated investigations and registered cases in relation to the robberies. The incidents have once again underscored the importance of heightened security measures along the expressway, urging authorities to take swift and effective action. As the affected couples grapple with the aftermath of the traumatic events, the local community is left grappling with concerns about their safety while traveling.
