Karnataka witnessed a devastating weekend as 37 lives were tragically lost in accidents that occurred between 6 am on Saturday and 6 am on Sunday, according to Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Traffic and Road Safety Department. The grim toll prompted Kumar to describe the day as a Black Saturday, noting that five individuals lost their lives in Chitradurga during the early hours of Sunday, contributing to the somber tally of 37 fatalities across the state in just 24 hours. In response to these heart-wrenching accidents, Alok Kumar shared his condolences and offered crucial advice to the public. He emphasized that the casualties included both two-wheeler riders and pedestrians, highlighting the importance of safety precautions. Kumar’s tweet underscored the significance of helmet use for both motorcycle riders and pillion passengers, urging them to prioritize their safety.
