Shiggaon farmers welcome Kirti soybean procurement centre

CH NEWS, VIJAYAPURA

Kirti Company, which has been purchasing soybeans from farmers since 1970, organised a farmers’ consultation meeting at Chikkamanakatti village in Shiggaon taluk following requests to open a procurement centre in the area.

The company announced that a new soybean procurement centre would soon be started at the Shiggaon APMC, bringing the service closer to local farmers.

Kirti Company Vice President Amit Kataria said the company already operates procurement centres in Kalaburagi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Gadag and Belagavi districts, including Bailahongala. He said farmers from Shiggaon had repeatedly requested the company to establish a centre in their taluk.

Kataria explained that the centre would make soybean sales easier and ensure a transparent purchasing process without loopholes. He also provided farmers with details about the company’s procurement system and procedures.

More than 600 farmers from 25 villages attended the meeting and benefited from the discussion.

Mallappa Gunchala, B.T. Inamdar, Shankrappa, Shetappanavara and other senior farmers participated. Gadagayya Hiremath compered the programme.
