Fresh trouble has begun for former Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna, who is currently locked up inside Bengaluru’s high-security Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. Recent police checks show that he managed to get regular phone access while serving his sentence.
During a sudden inspection by the Central Crime Branch, officers searched his cell and discovered hidden electronic devices. Investigators found that he possessed multiple phones, including a smart device. Further checks revealed that the SIM cards used in these gadgets were registered under other people’s names, with one active connection traced back to a neighboring state.
Police inquiry uncovered how the illegal items entered the high-security block. A local resident from Banaswadi named Naveen allegedly arranged the mobile phones. He is believed to have handed them over to another inmate named Pratap Rai inside the same barracks, who then passed them along to Revanna. Authorities have already taken Naveen into custody for questioning regarding the supply chain.
This security breach has caused heavy trouble for jail personnel. Led by DIG Jinendra Gangavi, the department launched a deep investigation into the matter. Several prison officials and security guards face strict departmental action and suspensions for allowing unauthorized items inside. Investigators are looking closely at how staff members permitted gadgets into high-risk barracks, pointing to possible corruption behind bars.
