A special awareness campaign under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) scheme is being conducted across Gudibande taluk from August 15 to September 15. As part of the campaign, a job card fair was held at Varlakonda village on Thursday to help rural families access employment opportunities.
Assistant Director A.R. Srinivas said job card fairs would be organized in all gram panchayats of the taluk. He said officials were planning works to create more employment days for rural families. The campaign also focuses on visiting households, issuing new job cards to eligible families, renewing existing cards and completing e-KYC procedures.
Srinivas said workers’ attendance, work progress and related records would increasingly be managed through digital systems. The main aim, he said, was to bring employment opportunities directly to deserving families. People seeking information about job cards, e-KYC or submitting work demands were advised to approach their respective gram panchayats.
The scheme is also expected to reduce migration from villages to cities by creating work locally. Officials urged eligible unskilled workers to make full use of the programme and strengthen their livelihoods. Information Education Coordinator Ramanji said special efforts were being made to identify families with inactive job cards through door-to-door visits and inform them about employment and individual benefit schemes.
He said the campaign would particularly encourage participation among weaker sections and improve economic security through job creation. During drought conditions, priority would be given to works related to water conservation, groundwater recharge and activities supporting long-term livelihoods. Panchayat Development Officers Narasimhamurthy and Sathyaprasad, labour organizer Naveen, technical staff member Narasimappa and gram panchayat employees attended the programme.
