BJP’s massive Dharna enters second day

CH NEWS, VIJAYAPURA

The BJP’s massive Dharna and Satyagraha demanding the resignation of Minister B Nagendra and pressing for various other demands entered its second day. The protest was led by the BJP District Women’s Morcha, Yuva Morcha, Minority Morcha and various other party wings.

Addressing the gathering, MP Ramesh Jigajinagi questioned the Congress government’s stand on the alleged irregularities in the Maharshi Valmiki Development Corporation. BJP Women’s Morcha President Swapna Kanamunal accused the Congress government of adopting an anti-women stance by not providing adequate representation to women in the recent Cabinet expansion. She also alleged delays in the release of benefits under social welfare schemes such as old-age pensions, widow pensions and other assistance programmes.

BJP Yuva Morcha district President Raghavendra Kapse alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil promises made to the youth, including providing employment opportunities. He claimed that nearly two lakh vacant government posts remained unfilled and criticised the government for not creating permanent jobs or effectively implementing industrial development plans. Kapse also alleged that funds earmarked for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes had been diverted to guarantee schemes and demanded clarification from the government.

Minority Morcha president Abdul Razak Walikar and Deputy Mayor Sumitra Jadhav also addressed the gathering.

BJP district President Gurulingappa Angadi, former Minister Appasaheb Pattanshetti, former MLC Arun Shahapur, and several party leaders and office-bearers participated in the protest.

During the programme, party leaders paid tributes to former Minister BC Nagesh. Speaking on the occasion, Appasaheb Pattanshetti said BC Nagesh would be remembered for his reforms as Primary and Secondary Education Minister. Former MLC Arun Shahapur said that initiatives such as the ‘Viveka Kotadi’ project, under which thousands of well-equipped classrooms were constructed in government schools, reflected Nagesh’s vision and commitment to educational reforms.
