Bengaluru police have arrested 2 people, including a woman from another state, for stealing luxury vehicles and successfully recovered a Toyota Fortuner valued at 35 lakh rupees.
The case began when a visitor from Chennai drove to Bengaluru for a weekend trip on June 26, 2026. He parked his Fortuner at a hotel on Hosur Road after watching a movie, but discovered it missing the next morning. He immediately filed a theft complaint at the Parappana Agrahara Police Station.
Investigators gathered crucial tips and tracked the suspects toward Maharashtra. Although the main suspect initially fled, police arrested his girlfriend, who confessed to stealing expensive cars for quick cash. Following further intelligence, a special team captured the main suspect near the Silk Board junction.
The accused admitted to using duplicate keys made with special tools to unlock vehicles before driving them to remote areas in Rajasthan to sell. Acting on his disclosure, officers traveled to Rajasthan and seized the stolen Fortuner on July 24.
Police records reveal the main suspect has ties to twenty-one similar criminal cases across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. The successful operation was led by local police divisions under senior leadership.
