HUBBALLI
Rajya Sabha member Prof. M. Nagaraj, newly appointed BJP national vice president, said the party’s main target is the 2028 Karnataka Assembly election.
He said the result would be a major challenge and expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in the state. Nagaraj made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Hubballi.
Nagaraj said he was happy and surprised by the new responsibility, adding that he viewed the appointment as recognition for the backward classes of Karnataka. He thanked BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and national leaders B.L. Santhosh and Pralhad Joshi for their support.
He said the party would work hard to strengthen its organisation across Karnataka and prepare for the next Assembly election. According to him, many voters were ready to support the BJP, but the party could not form the government in the previous election for various reasons. He said those shortcomings would be addressed.
Nagaraj also set a broader organisational goal of building the party under the guidance of state BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra and senior leader B.S. Yediyurappa. He said leaders and workers would work together, strengthen the party at the grassroots and take the message of the BJP to every section of society.
He said the new national role would bring responsibility and give him an opportunity to contribute to the party beyond Karnataka. He expressed confidence that the BJP would win the 2028 Karnataka election and said the party would continue working towards what he described as the Modi 4.0 goal.
