Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group and Founder Patron of the Bearys Cultural Forum, received the Global Leadership Award for Quality and Innovation 2026 at an educational scholarship event held at Town Hall, Mangaluru.
Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader presented the award after inaugurating the programme.
The event also witnessed Dr. Moideen personally awarding a ₹1.5 crore scholarship to a deserving student under the Thumbay International Pathway Program. The six-year medical programme allows students to complete three years at Gulf Medical University in Ajman and another three years at a partner university in Uzbekistan, leading to a full MD degree.
The programme was jointly organised by the Bearys Cultural Forum, Dubai, and the Bearys Cultural Forum Trust, Mangaluru. It brought together students, educationists, community leaders and public representatives. Scholarships were distributed to SSLC and PUC toppers from across Karnataka. Sewing machines were also given to underprivileged women, while a business seminar was conducted as part of the event.
Several dignitaries attended the gathering, including former MLC and Fiza Group Managing Director B.M. Farooq, BCF UAE President Dr. B.K. Yusuf and Presidency University Chancellor Dr. Nissar Ahmed. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Moideen highlighted nearly three decades of work in healthcare, education and community development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to helping deserving students access quality education. The award recognises leadership that promotes quality and innovation. Dr. Moideen has also received five honorary doctorates and several international honours for his contributions to healthcare, education and business. The scholarship announcement became a major highlight of the event, reflecting his continuing focus on educational opportunities for students in India and the Gulf.
