BJP begins indefinite protest seeking Nagendra ‘s resignation

KOLAR

The BJP has launched an indefinite protest outside the Kolar Deputy Commissioner’s office near Tamaka, demanding the resignation of Minister B. Nagendra over allegations linked to the Valmiki development corporation scam.

Party leaders said the protest would continue until the government responds to their demand and takes action.

The demonstration was led by BJP district president Om Shakti Chalapati, with former minister Varthur Prakash and former MLA Manjunath Gowda among those participating. Protesters raised slogans against the Congress government and demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accept Nagendra’s resignation immediately.

BJP leaders also criticised Minister Zameer Ahmed and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi over separate political issues. They alleged that the government had failed to act firmly against those responsible for the alleged irregularities. The protesters said their demonstration was intended to draw public attention to what they described as failures in accountability and governance.

Speaking at the protest, former minister Varthur Prakash referred to statements made by Siddaramaiah regarding the alleged scam. He claimed the then Chief Minister had acknowledged irregularities involving ₹87 crore and questioned why Nagendra was again given ministerial responsibility. Prakash argued that allegations of serious financial wrongdoing should be examined thoroughly before such appointments are made.

The BJP leaders said they would maintain the indefinite dharna until their demands are addressed. They urged the government to ensure accountability and take appropriate action over the alleged financial irregularities. The protest at the district headquarters is expected to continue, with party workers calling for a clear response from the government. The demonstration has added to the political pressure surrounding the controversy and kept the issue in public focus.
