A threshing machine demonstration was held at the farm of progressive farmer Shankarrao Kulkarni in Talakal village, organized by the Koppal Agricultural Extension Education Center.
Extension Leader Dr. Badari Prasad P.R. explained that threshing togari crops at intervals of 35 and 55 days encourages more branches and fruiting, helping farmers improve yields.
Scientists said machine threshing can reduce labour costs and complete farm work faster, especially when women agricultural workers are involved. Farmers watching the demonstration said the machine could save both time and physical effort. Thimmanna Chaudy, a University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur governing body member, said villages around Talakal had widely cultivated togari during the monsoon and urged farmers to adopt new technology.
He said a solar-powered togari threshing machine had been introduced this year and asked farmers to use it. Kulkarni said manual threshing last year required six to seven labourers per acre, while the machine allows one person to complete the work, sharply reducing labour expenses.
Farmers Neelanagoudru Malipatil, Shubhasappa Kencharaddi, Umeshgoudru Police Patil, Veeresh Bisanahalli, Shankarrao Hiremani and Kumareddy Bheemareddy attended the programme. Officials said such demonstrations can help farmers understand practical technologies and adopt methods that reduce costs, save labour and improve farm income. For further technical guidance, farmers can contact scientists at the Koppal Agricultural Extension Education Center and strengthen rural livelihoods overall.
