A tragic incident has occurred in the city. A retired engineer who was involved in a lift accident at the city’s famous Sri Dattatreya Temple has succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The accident occurred at the Sri Dattatreya Temple near the Rotary Blood Bank. Kumaraswamy, a retired Engineer, had arrived at the temple. An old-style manual lift was installed behind the sanctum sanctorum of the temple for the convenience of devotees. This same lift has become a death trap for Kumaraswamy.
Although the lift was not on the ground floor, the door had opened either due to a technical fault or carelessness. Kumaraswamy entered thinking that the lift had arrived. At the same time, the lift on the upper floor came down rapidly. As a result, Kumaraswamy was trapped under the lift and seriously injured.
