Approval delays stall Bengaluru real estate projects

BENGALURU

Approvals for key real estate proposals, including building plans, change of land use (CLU) and occupancy certificates (OCs), have slowed sharply at the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and the Urban Development Department (UDD), leaving several projects in limbo. Builders said the delays, ongoing for nearly two months, have affected project completion and property handovers to homebuyers. Industry representatives claimed the issue is widespread and blamed administrative changes and pending work allocation. While the GBA maintained delays were limited to applications with deficiencies, developers said hundreds of proposals remain pending and have taken up the issue with the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI).
