Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Prakash Vaddar has directed officials to identify more works under the VB-GRAMG scheme and provide continuous employment to rural labourers while ensuring quality implementation of development projects. During an inspection visit to Muttagi Gram Panchayat in Basavana Bagewadi taluk, Vaddar reviewed the ongoing Amrit Sarovar work under the scheme and interacted with labourers at the site.
He instructed officials to ensure adequate drinking water and shade at worksites and asked Gram Panchayat Development Officers to plan projects with the objective of providing employment to more than 500 labourers daily. Vaddar directed officials to upload works to the Yuktadhara software without delay, and ensure uninterrupted employment for workers. He also inspected the quality of soil and the progress of the ongoing works. Assuring workers that wage payments would be made within the stipulated time, he said steps had been taken to eliminate delays in disbursement. He reminded labourers that marking attendance twice a day through the NMMS mobile application is mandatory and urged them to utilise their earnings for their children’s education and family welfare.
He instructed officials to respond promptly to workers’ grievances and ensure that every eligible rural household receives regular employment under the scheme. Special attention should be given to women workers and elderly labourers by providing necessary support and a conducive working environment, he said. During a visit to the Gram Panchayat office, Vaddar expressed dissatisfaction over poor tax collection and instructed bill collectors to recover Rs 10 lakh in taxes by the end of the month.
Later, Vaddar visited the Government Higher Primary School at Muttagi and inspected its infrastructure. He reviewed the mid-day meal kitchen constructed under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS and examined stock registers.
Assistant Director (Rural Development) Prakash Desai, Gram Panchayat Development Officer Vijaykumar Aski, Headmaster Ashok Takkalaki, Gram Panchayat staff, SHG members, Kayaka Bandhus, VB-GRAMG workers and villagers were present.
